Exchanges By Ruth Mattam
After having lived most of my life in a country where exchanges at stores were not easy (to say the least), I dreaded having to return a malfunctioning coffee pot almost as soon as we bought it for our new home. So off I went, armed with the receipt and a long explanation! There was a long line at the customer service and I was quite worked up and flustered by the time I got to the counter.

Who holds the key: Do I have the right to kill myself? By Mr. Neil Mammen
She walked into their garage after school to find him and saw him sitting in his car. The car was still running. She screamed and opened the car door, tried to wake him, then reached across the arms that used to hold her, past the mouth that used to tell her he loved her and to the ignition to turn off the car. He’d been dead for hours...

Just A Matter of Focus By Ruth Mattam
There I was, dressed in my oversized gym clothes, on a machine that seemed to be a cross between a treadmill and a row-boat, trying valiantly to look someone who was thoroughly enjoying the ordeal! The idea being that if I got through this half hour looking like I enjoyed it, my body would cooperate with the machine to make me into the size 10 that I had given up on, a long time ago.

Challenges By Ruth Mattam
The Oxford dictionary defines a challenge as "a call to prove something"; "a demanding task or situation". How many times had I bowed down before the enormity of a challenge that lay before me? How many times had I bowed out of challenges because I was overwhelmed by day to day living?

It’s Only Words... By Ruth Mattam
Amusing for sure; it made me smile, but, at the same time left me thinking about the power of the tongue! It certainly must be very important to God because His Word has so much to say about our words. If someone actually 'asked' me to say a few words, I would for certain pause to think, before I spoke.

Defying Gravity By Ruth Mattam
A dear friend and beloved sister in Christ entered the Lord's presence a couple of weeks ago. We had been holding onto the Lord for a miracle so hard and for so long, that when I got the news that the Lord had taken her home, I found that I just couldn't release my fingers. Doubts, fears and discouragement flooded in! Have you ever gone through a time when you have been clinging on to the Lord so hard that your fingers kind of stay in that position when the Lord answers in a way that isn't what you asked or hoped for? To unfurl them hurts, doesn't it?

Empty Vessels By Ruth Mattam
Life must have been very much like our life in the world today. When we hear arguments about the Bible being outdated and God's rules outmoded, aren't we also tempted to make compromises? With all the justifications, sin doesn't seem like sin any more.

Authority Secured from Serpents Snatch By Mrs. Anita Lazarus
The Eve in Genesis succumbed to the influence of someone other than her husband; consequently she spent her life looking for the cover of the headship God had authorized her to live under. Her relatedness with Adam changed from the unity of true submission that partnership involves, to the crushing slavery of her, husband’s rule.

'First Christmas' : Lessons for families By Mr. P.C. Mathew
For many, Christmas is a time to renew old relationship, a time for parties and fun. But, the first Christmas, meant something else for the families of Mary and Joseph. It was a season of ridicule, a season of being misunderstood by all far and near. It was a season of disgrace and suffering to both Mary and Joseph and their families.

The Battle For The Mind By Ruth Mattam
Olympic fever is slowly building here in British Columbia. It's a well-celebrated fact in this region that BC is hosting the Winter Olympics of 2010, and the one year count down has begun! Almost every time I turn the television on, I see one or the other of our athletes explaining how much they crave to win the gold for their country and how long and hard they've been training to achieve that dream. They passionately believe they can do it! The image fades from the screen with the words, "Do you believe?"

God’s Gift Bag of Promises! By Ruth Mattam
One of my friends who has had a hard year with a divorce, finances and so many health issues, was given a Christmas gift basket - filled to the brim with gifts and gift cards for her and her children - things we were sure would bring great joy to that little family. I could just picture the squeals of delight as they dipped their hands into the basket on Christmas morning. And as I prayed for a Word from the Lord for the first month of 2009, I felt in my spirit that the Lord wanted me to send out this gift basket of His promises. Believe me when I tell you that the joy and peace you will receive from His Word will far surpass the joy the best earthly gift you could give you!

First Christmas: Lessons for families By Mr. P.C. Mathew

Balancing family and Work (Ministry) By Mr. P.C. Mathew
It was the funeral service of a reputed evangelist in Bangalore; there were people from all walks of life who had something to say about this great man of God who influenced their life. Surprisingly his family had nothing to say. His wife and his children were almost standing around like strangers with no words to offer about this man who influenced many people for Christ. WHAT WENT WRONG?

Family Altar - Alters Your Family By Mr. P.C. Mathew

Family Altar is a time when we set apart as a family to come together in Gods presence. It’s the time to get direction from God’s Word to steer our family vehicle in the way that God would desire us to move. An altar is a need in every Home. It is the Family altar that will alter the family. It is a common point to which every member of the family would come to pour out their hearts.

Praying Psalm 23 By Ruth
One of the earliest memories I have is reciting Psalm 23, to parents who were beaming with pride. And over the years, I’ve heard it sung, taught, read and preached more than any other Word from the Bible. But, it was only last week, when I was lying in bed, tired mentally and physically and feeling emotionally drained, that my God ministered to me through this Psalm. My youngest daughter climbed into our bed, cuddled close between her dad and I, and asked if we could recite the Psalm as a part of our bedtime prayer - and as we did, the words took on a life of its own! And as it washed over me, I slowly allowed myself to relax in the arms of the Good Shepherd. Oh, it was sweet refreshing indeed!
